Australian Indigenous Collectors and Collections

Christine Hansen completed her BA Hons (Aboriginal Studies) in 2003 from the University of Western Sydney, graduating with 1st class honours. She was awarded a Summer Scholarship in 2002 to undertake research within the School of Social and Human Sciences. Prior to returning to academic studies, Christine was employed as a staff writer for South Pacific Pictures in New Zealand. On her return to Australia, she wrote several short film projects for the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney, one of which went on to win the Dendy Award for Best Fiction at the Sydney International Film Festival. She is currently the ARC Linkage scholar on the project Australian Indigenous Collectors and Collections, being conducted in partnership with the National Museum of Australia. She is carrying out collaborative research with the Yuin community in Eden, NSW on the role of material culture in the construction and maintenance of identity.
